OK as some of you may nkow i had a "litle oops"

Short story;
Trailor brakes failed, jackknifed and my van ended on its side.
then the tow truck managed to launch the trailor into my van wile still on the side, damaged the propshafts,and then thy reversed into my van at there yard...................... :evil: Will have a litle chat with them next week.

My hart says Fix, my head say spares as it will never be the same again

My feeling is that it looks a lot worse than it actually is. A new fender, two new door skins and a fair amount of bodywork (A-pillar, C-pillar, side of roof and rear panel), as well as some glass replacement .... the integrated bumper could also be salvaged IMO.

The issue is how much can you do yourself, otherwise if it's all farmed out to professionals, the balance of value tips in favour of stripping. Perhaps you can get someone to do the bodywork up to the u/coat stage and you take it from there. You can also save a little if you do the necessary stripping in advance.

Fix it. did you see what mine looked like???

get it mechanically sound and repair the panels as you go as the bucks become available and then when all panels are sorted get it in for some paint and... voila! a new Ltd

but then again, your bumper would look nice on Rokarok

George, you're really not going to want to hear what I have to say, but...

I spoke to a fellow member who has not been too active here lately and I saw photos of his SFA that had rolled during an event. The roof was badly V-shaped and the vehicle suffered extensive damage on the left side. Quotes varied from about R50k - R60k to repair. But then he found an old-time Panel Beater (as opposed to a "Panel Replacer" in Heidelberg who examined the vehicle and made a price for all panel beating, for replacing the windscreen and all broken glass on the left side and a total respray, for the measly sum of R15,000. I also saw pics of the progress and where the B-pillar had suffered extensive damage on the left side due to the roof buckiling, it now looks perfect. He removed the roof panel and elected to panel beat it instead of replacing it. The vehicle is almost finished and the owner has promised to post before & after pics here as soon as he gets it back.

The problem with mentioned above, is that after 4 years those areas of repair, tend to fade and crackling of paint start to happen. My friend who bought such a vehicle that landed on side, took it to 3 4x4 trails, and after the first trail, without heavy flexing of the body, the body putty gave way in some areas. Where the roof joined the A and B pillar, a 0.5mm crack developed all over again.

It's just a mere observation, and would not personally do it if it was me, unless you sell it again, but, in hind sight. You have to mention the repairs to the new owner, and he would probably squash the price down or will forfeit the deal.

Stripping the vehicle like George is doing, is probably the best scenario, bare in mind, he probably bought it back from insurance at a good price and is a nice "once off" bussiness venture - nice money are always made like that, especially on a legend like a SFA!
