Agter dit sit die buitekant wiel bearings wat vol ghries is. Sonder die cover sal van die ghries uitkom en weg van die bearings gewerk word. Bearings sal dan droog loop en beskadig word. Boonop dit hou dit stof en goed uit dat die ghries skoon bly. :winkx:

Ja, dit kom voor op enige "dead axle" of "stub axle" - 'n "live axle" (dryf as) is anders en die bearings is op die "half shaft" wat natuurlik ook seëls het. Goeie voorbeelde is op trailers (soos deur Theunis genoem), voor aste op "rear- wheel-drive" voertuie en agter aste op "front-wheel-drive" voertuie.

Daai kappie is lekker styf ingedruk en word gewoonlik met 'n bietjie moeite uitgehaal om die "castle nut" by te kom om die "pre-load" op die bearings te stel.
