Hilux 3.0 kzte timing

Hi guys.. I recently bought a hilux 3.0 kzte 4x4 diesel, it had been standing for a while as the gearbox was repaired at toyota, as the selector went. Once the new box was installed and it was started up again the check engine light came on and it seems to be underpowered and along with this it has a diesel knock, when plugging it in to diagnostics said timing, a mechanic friend mentioned it could be the diesel pump, the timing control valve in the pump or the harness. After taking the pump out cleaning it, replacing the timing control valve and checking wiring the problem continues. Now its been mentioned it might be the ecu, has anyone else had a similar problem? Please let me know as im so keen to do sani's but ca tseem to resolve this....thanks so much

there are marks on the pump for the timing will see if I can get a pic.Also loosen the locking bolts and move the pump a few degrees away from the block and try it.

Yes its your crank sensor if I can remember correctly its behind the starter motor.

A blocked diesel filter can also trigger the 'Check engine' light.
