OOPS-I was wrong

Post by george »

This happens once or twice in a life time

When travelling to work(a full 5 min) I cross a single lane traffic circle. When i got here in George I taught the Georgians was slow drivers because everyone stops at the circle and treat it as a 4 way stop.I was under the impression that you give way to the cars coming from the right like in a 2 lane circle.Lucky being me I tried to blend in with the locals so I followed their "example",but now and again when I am in a hurry I will enforce my "right hand right of way" ideology. With a few hoots and sign language
Today I googled a bit and the Georgians are right :slap:
Mini-circles Slow down and give way to other vehicles that cross any Yield line before you do. Proceed in a clockwise direction around the painted island, without driving on it. - See more at: http://www.arrivealive.co.za/pages.aspx ... KyAit.dpuf" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Sincere apologies to all Georgians. From your humble servant George

But what gets me is that the sign preceding the ones in our area is for a circle, the yield sign with the circular arrows inside...

These things are a nuisance; if the intention was to make it a stop there would have been a stop sign, right?

My understanding is that even a small one lane traffic circle assumes the normal "yield to the right" regulation UNLESS there is an 'Informative' type signboard which states "Mini circle - First come first served". (The absence of such a board means normal rules apply).
;-)

Die taxis ken daai first in reël.

'Yield to the right' is die reel.

George, hier leer jy my nou 'n ding!

Laat my dink aan die grappie: Boer, Skot, taxi en bus stop gelyktyding by 'n 4 rigting stop. Wie ry eerste?

Self agree with yeild to the right
And try and follow the rules

However, what I find often in these situation, and traffic lights that are not working
Many drivers when faced with these circumstances dont know what to do, and many just sit
Me not shy, and in such circumstances when everyone is waiting for every one else, I GO. Lol
And then look in the rear view mirror how every one is still sitting and still waiting for everyone else :laugh2:
Yep even in the aygo

I must say when I get to a 4way stop I do not look at anybody ,I check to see if it is safe to go & head off,
people think if you look @ them it must be their turn to go even if they arrived @ the 4way after you :shifty: :shifty:
