True in the sense that they are waiting for an allocation from ICASA. As soon as they receive that they can start issuing new licenses

Kenneth more to the point -

29mhz licences ARE available

vhf licenses are NOT available at the moment, not new ones in any case. But as FD said, hopefully we will get more SOON.

I will also see how this one plays out as I've been toying with having a VHF for quite some time now.

Remember the Kenwood special we currently have running, the radios are moving relatively quickly! This radio is selling at 50% off the normal price and is subject to existing stocks.

I would say it's a waste of time to even consider 29 MHz these days. Had one in my van it is always a battle to hear what the other guys are saying. VHF is king (my opinion of course)

Hey Kenneth, agree with Cassie - Go VHF as the guy's in Gauteng all use them...

The group I usually join on Overland trips only use 29's - which if setup correctly works well but not nearly as good as VHF....

Submitted my request about two months ago, about three weeks later I received an email that acknowledged my application was received. Still waiting for the Invoice, but I knew about the delay in issuing new licenses, so I am waiting patiently.

I believe new licences are at last being issued, but have yet to hear of anyone actually receiving one. If you do, then please post here.

Buwhahahahah - You only applied for your two weeks ago!!

I have applied for mine in March already  You are only going to get your Invoice by December 2012 - And the Licence by June 2013!

Nah - just pulling your leg! :wink2:

I actually did aply for mine in March already, but remember they did not issues new licenses for a while to sort out all the current licences, and then they had to get through all the renewals and what not. It seems like Rina and team is now only busy with the new applications!

Now let's see - at 25 new applications a day, they started with them on the 16th of July and got to mine today, they should get to yours by...November 2012!! Still not bad <efg>
