Re: Speaker sizes
They are a 6". But are mounted onto plastic mountings. You need to either make up new mounting spacers or cut the old speaker out and modify the existing spacer to fit your new speaker.

Re: Speaker sizes
Yes. they usually get full of dust and water if you go through deep water. i want to upgrade myself soon. Just running a 10" shallow mount sub and tweeter up front off a JVC head unit that has a parametric eq. Not too bad....

Re: Speaker sizes
Behind the rear seat. You should do the fold down mod where you cut the the hangers. It does fit even without out this. If you want dimensions I'll be happy to oblige

You can buy the spacers from any sound shop. they call them astra or corsa spacers available in 5 1/4" & 6 1/2". astra spacers are the ones you looking for.

Re: Speaker sizes
They're easy enough to make yourself. When I bought my lux, there were 6" speakers mounted in the rear doors .... Bretton will remember that they were hanging loose .... even the door panels were popped off.
I re-secured them only to find that the reason why they were always loose was because the magnets fouled against the window when it was wound down (too deep into the door). Just cut a couple of spacer rings from 'Superwood', painted and fitted them. No more hassles .... sorted the door panels as well.

When your road comes to an end ...... you need a HILUX!.
Life is like a jar of Jalapeño peppers ... what you do today, might burn your ass tomorrow.
Don't take life too seriously ..... no-one gets out alive.

And be yourself ..... everyone else is taken!

Re: Speaker sizes
been chatting to a buddy in the sound game.
he suggested a good pair of splits (around R1500 per pair)
then i'll do the fold down mod for the back seat (thanks for the link OOMS) and mount the amp in there if i cant get it fitted nicely under the left seat. (thinking i'll have to remove the seat to get the amp installed neatly)
i want the speakers to still fit inside the doorpads. will post the end result once i'm done.
