High Milage

Post by warrenaken »

So here is a tale of Toyota i had to share.
Whilst working up in the north of Mozambique, I always drive past this one old hilux up on bricks (rocks) and wonder how many km it must have on its clock, coz by the looks of it, quite a few and hard km at that.
This week I stopped to have a look and the owner came out, we got chatting and to my amazement it has 1,053,338km on the clock! So we chatted to him for a while and he said that is not much come look here. He took us into the yard and there was a second hilux this one with wheels, and this one has 1,196,679km on the clock !!

Wait, you think that is amazing, he has stripped the first one to fix the second one so that he can start using it again! Still not impressed, I asked if there were the original engines, and he said yes, he just had to replace the rings on the pistons.

If you looked around, wonder what the highest mileage would be??

That can be an interesting project for a trails only vehicle (if you can get the body here).

Just sad the money to keep them going seems to be lacking.

A 4x4 is merely a machine that enables you to get stuck further away from civilization.

It does seem that the one in the first picture had an engine fire at some stage

When your road comes to an end ...... you need a HILUX!.

Life is like a jar of Jalapeño peppers ... what you do today, might burn your ass tomorrow.
Don't take life too seriously ..... no-one gets out alive.
It's not about waiting for storms to pass. It's about learning to dance in the rain.
And be yourself ..... everyone else is taken!
