Hi guys ,need to get something worked out prior to spending money .
I have a 1990 RN105 with a 2.4 22R petrol engine . I want to go diesel so can a LN106 2.4 diesel easily drop into my car ?
I want to stick with a Hilux engine ,so please help me out .

Electrically it is easy, all you need to connect up is the diesel solenoid. You'll lose your rev counter unless you find a diesel cluster. You'll need new engine mountings since they are in a different place. You may need to run new fuel lines

I suppose the main reason is my beast is just a petrol whore,it only gets 300 klm to the tank .
I am a mechanical numbty but have mates who can help. What types and year vehicles can I look at mate? I heard all L series engines are interchangable with R series vehicles .

I'd try an engine importer, they sometimes have those engines. Otherwise a very common swap is to put in the Ford/Mazda 2.5TD WL engine
