Posting stuff on Facebook for the club.
Some may have noticed, I have been trying to get our name out on social media, as per my current portfolio on the club committee. If there are specific topics I may overlook and you want shared, please post a link on this thread.

Re: Posting stuff on Facebook for the club.
I must be honest when I say that the FB page sometimes becomes a bit like a Piepie contest.
I feel sorry for Thys having to facilitate that page.
It has become a page of "mine is bigger and better than yours"
When that happens, I switch off and have a look at this forum and regain my sanity!
Good luck with the venture!!

Re: Posting stuff on Facebook for the club.
Ek dink Thys is dalk al keelvol vir my daar op FB... Ek "raak baie goed kwyt" ... Hehehe.
Fb is my "alter-ego" hilux page...
En Thys, jy moet erken, paar van daai threads so stille dode gesterf het as daar nie paar ouens was met houtlepels nie - jouself ingesluit.
Hehehe.

Re: Posting stuff on Facebook for the club.
I think what Thumelo has in mind is something different? Or is it? You can use the Hilux4x4.co.za Club page to promote the club stuff?

Re: Posting stuff on Facebook for the club.
It is true that the FB page pulls a completely different crowd. But in that crowd there are actually some nice guys too. I don't mind referring decent-sounding guys here. If they turn out to be bad apples they won't like it here anyway.
I do think Thys' approach to that page is good though, allowing chaps to boast, up to a point. Slowly they are getting the message that the place is not actually intended as a Hilux chest-thumping platform, but rather a more social, info-sharing platform. Already the pic of the hilux towing the ranger is getting only luke-warm response, whereas a month ago it would have been full of crowing pratts. Guys behave themselves in accordance to the group behaviour, and you are doing a good job stamping out the "lets ride on the fynbos, have another dop, gooi donuts in the parkinglot" crowd.
It'll be an ongoing job though, as new guys continue to join.
Personally I like the livelyness of the thing, even if it gets to be a bit tedious with the Hilux chest-thumping sometimes.

Re: Posting stuff on Facebook for the club.
For example over the past holidays I was trying to sent out motoring tips, season greetings, etc. from the club - which are common and general to most of us but coming from the Hilux Club
