Eric, just keep the Southern Cape (George, Mossel Bay are) in mind or let us know where we can take our radios to program. Last option will be to send you my radios for programming.Family_Dog wrote:Kobus, don't worry, we have Cape Town covered already. An announcement will be made in due course :)

Re: Hilux 4x4 VHF Channel?
Matt, we'll have to see what can be done. The problem lies in that every radio uses its own programming cable although a quite a few models have standardised on the Kenwood cables.

Re: Hilux 4x4 VHF Channel?

Vragie Eric,
ek het my VHF so twee maande terug tweedehands gekoop, hoe weet ek of is dit die ou of nuwe ORRA kanale?

Re: Hilux 4x4 VHF Channel?
Pumba wrote:Vragie Eric,

Lollie, die ORRA kanale is wettig landswyd.

Re: Hilux 4x4 VHF Channel?

Re: Hilux 4x4 VHF Channel?
That would be an excellent idea. We will make a decision pending radios mentioned but once the decision is made, it is non-reversible so we do need this info sooner than later.
Guys, please mention by make and model number what VHF radios you are using.

Re: Hilux 4x4 VHF Channel?
Thanks Tertius. The 959 is the older model but it is a better model than the 969 which replaced it. It appears that you do have a tone board in the radio then (now unobtainable) so you should be good to go for normal tones but I am not sure if the radio can cater for digital tones or not. Will check on this a wee bit later.

Eric, my 2 x Motorola Gm300 (43W models ) have tone capability, but as you know they are older units, so not sure if it's digital tone. Would be interesting if you knew or could still find out. Thanks.Family_Dog wrote:Thanks Tertius. The 959 is the older model but it is a better model than the 969 which replaced it. I'm sure the 2 x HQT (TH2000) hand-held should be compatible.

Very late onto this thread....this is great news however and well done to all involved. Can we just list our radio details in this thread or is there a separate list as mentioned somewhere above in the thread?

Re: Hilux 4x4 VHF Channel?
We do know the frequency but until we get that little paper titled "Radio Communications Licence", our hands are unfortunately tied.
But there is a stirring at ICASA that might be more beneficial to us in the long run so we are not pushing for it just yet.

Re: Hilux 4x4 VHF Channel?
