Advice needed... (edited)

Post by Samurai »

I was wondering if anyone could provide me with some advice on the following:

A friend of mine bought a "certain" car (well known brand - not Chinese or "one of those") late in 2011, at the time, it was the top of the range model. It has a 5 year warranty and service plan, so that's all valid until basically the end of 2016.

The car has a triptronic type auto gearbox that has a double clutch type system - not sure if that's the right description, but anyway. The car has been shuddering at low RPM just before and just after it changes down a gear to get the RPM up (e.g. slowing down at junction and then accelerating to go up a slight hill etc, then it shudders).

The vehicle has been back to the dealership twice to have the computer for the gearbox and clutch reset and just came back a third time last week after having the clutches (not gearbox) replaced. All was going well, until this morning, when the car started with the shuddering again...

1) Does anyone know what could cause this? :frustrated:

2) If the dealership says they can't find a fault with the car and basically tell you "sorry, that's how it is" or "all those models do that", is there anything a person can do as the vehicle is still under warranty? Legal action or something? :aggresive:

3) It's not a Toyota :lol:

Any help or advice will be greatly appreciated :thumbup:

VW/Audi!

Well known problem with their Multitronic boxes.

Erlemann's is the guys that specialises in those trouble boxes: http://www.erlemanns.co.za/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

I guess his dealer must send the car there.

Is the Torque converter bleeded throught with enough Automatic transmission fluid? They also have to ensure they have use the correct spec of ATF for that vehicle.

If it is not done properly the autos will not engage or have gearing problems, also shudders.

It is common on VW's, but if it is under warantee, it is their problrem, ask for a loan vehicle and leave it there until its fixed
