Dust Ingress Hilux
Have a standard Hilux 2012 4x4 DC with Beekman Executive canopy, and need to seal somewhere to prevent dust ingress. Any solutions out there?

Welcome to the forum Mike.I believe that installing air vents to the canopy will caust the canopy to have higher air pressure and thus reduce the dust inflow dramatically.Vents were previously advertized for sale on this forum and I'm certain one of the members will assist you in this regard.Good luck.

Welcome aboard, Mike!
Yes, the vents make a big difference - they must be fitted and oriented so that they feed air into the canopy (positive pressure). Even leaving the 'cab-slider' window open a bit solves most of the problem. Vents are readily available at most spares outlets, but for quality, fast efficient service and extremely competitive on-line prices, "The Shop" (link provided in sub-header at the top of the page) is the way to go. When your road comes to an end ...... you need a HILUX!.
Life is like a jar of Jalapeño peppers ... what you do today, might burn your ass tomorrow.
Don't take life too seriously ..... no-one gets out alive.
It's not about waiting for storms to pass. It's about learning to dance in the rain.
And be yourself ..... everyone else is taken!

Check the 4 corners of the load bin 1st. It is there wher most of the dust get in, water also. Your wheels throw it into the wheel arch and then into the load bin. Use sponge to block the holes.
Check the photo.

Open the front slider window Mike... That causes positive pressure inside the canopy..

En wat van die Fortuner? Hy suig ook lekker stof in op die agter deur. Sit gewoonlik die aircon full blast met outside air om die druk verhouding te kry, maar werk nie altyd nie?

You could fit a pair of 'wrap-around' vanes at the back, like one sometimes used to see on older station wagons. What they do is minimise the low pressure vortices at the rear of a vehicle and in so doing draw less dust up directly behind the vehicle. If I'm not mistaken, someone submitted a post here where that did that to the back of a canopy with positive results.Rianc wrote:En wat van die Fortuner? Hy suig ook lekker stof in op die agter deur. Re: Dust Ingress Hilux
It is my Cortina Flaps you are talking about Andy.. Yes it could work, but they will have to be quite big and low down on the vehicle. Mine works beautifully to keep dust off the back of the vehicle, but I always drive with the cab slider open, so that was not the reason for fitting them. With the Fortuner I would say go see Toyota and tell them to fix the rear door seals. That seal around the back door should be air tight to keep exhaust gasses out as well. If exhaust gasses can get it the vehicle is unsafe...
You could always get in there with adhesive foam strips to improve the seal, but it's not supposed to be like that..
