3RZ Engine

Post by LouisZ »

The Pulley problem went further. It somehow damaged the crank bearings. :dance1:  Huge knock now from the inside of the Engine.

Well before I decide otherwise, where can I find a decent recon, 2nd hand 3RZ? :?:

 Are you sure the knock is from the crank bearings? Not the new pulley itself or the balance shaft?

The thing is one spend good time on the initial problem and one gamble that nothing else will be wrong. Well after the pulley was done I drove about 40km and then engine noise became heaver, Knock knock and then no power. It will start but hell that knock.

As I understand the pulley drives the oil pump. So if the pulley comes out far enough the oil pump will stop turning. If you do not stop quick enough you will damage the bearings. Most probably what happened here.

The replacement 3RZ is already in, finished Friday night after 1am. I must say it pulls much better with the replacement in.
