Hi guys
My aircon compressor is not getting power to the magnetic clutch. the light comes on in the dash and the fan works as well.
Does anyone know what the cause could be? checked the fuses under the steering, and looked at the fuses in the engine compartment. is any of the fuses in the fuse box under the bonet for the aircon? there is gas-pushed inline valve a bit.
any clues would be helpfull
thanks
Murray

There is an inline pressure switch which will prevent the clutch from energizing should the system run out of gas.I a not sure where yours is situated but they are normally attatched to the receiver bottle near the aircon condnsor(radiator). I hope this assists you.

What Tony says is quite correct and this is most likely the reason for your problem. On my 2.2 the switch was at the bottle but it seems not to be the case on the 2.4. The switch must exist, just not sure where it is and the Lux is rather tightly parked (because of a hail warning), so I can't readily get in there at the moment.
In any event, take it past an aircon guy and let him check the gas levels .... pretty sure it will be low or empty in which case he would also have to check for leaks. Do this first and if the problem persists then look for a broken wire / poor connection on that switch line.

i'll get the gas checked. i have a sneaky suspicion it is under the dash near glove compartment.

Did you check the fuses behind the glove box?
