Fog lamp adjusting

Post by Arri »

Hi there

Anyone knows how to adjust the level of the round style foglamps in the current model hilux, they use HB4 51W bulbs, I can only see the the mounting bolts one on top and one at the bottom of
the bumper, but I am not sure if you can adjust their level?

Regards

Arno,

As far as I know they should be able to be moved slightly altough I doubt if it can be adjusted like the headlights....

Checked the Runx today and also my nieghbors Fortuner, but could not see any adjusting screws for it.

Thanks Pieter

I believe they are the same as RunX/ Corolla/Yarris I also could not find any adjustment screws, but I didn't remove the wheel arch cover to get a propper view, the only bolts are the stabilisers/fitment and they do not have space to move, I don't drive in fog alot so it's not crytical, but when I do use them I find them useless because they are aimed too low, People in Gauteng use them as driving lights permanemtly or as some sort of fashion accessory, which is against the law in clear weather, and sometimes they drive with parking lights and fogs in the night so I do not know how do they weven see where they are going.......

I always drive with my front fog lights switched on. I find that it does light up the area right in front of the car nicely and also gives some light to the sides. This helps when one approaches badly lit areas and there is a potential for hi-jackings etc.

What I do hate is when people drive with their rear facing fog lamps on in clear weather. These lights are extremely bright and blinding when driving behind one of these vehicles which I believe could actually cause more accidents than preventing them.

It's one of the laws in SA that does not get enforeced: see link:

http://www.search.gov.za/info/previewDo ... +BE+UNSAFE
"Fog lamps are designed for special weather conditions and the unnecessary use of it is not only illegal but inconsiderate and dangerous as well"
That said I would drive with mine on as well if I get them adjusted a bit higher so they shine iluminate the area my dipped beam skips.
But I am also scared one borred trafic cop starts issuing high fines for fog lights in clear weather......
