cloorkop first time stuck
I took my friend to show her how to use her Land Rover discovery. Lots of water and mud made me take her first with my hilux to check out the possiblitly of her taking her LD. She had road tyres so we wnated to avoid mud. While i was explaining the in and outs of low range etc, i made stupid mistake of not checking the hill before driving it. Thinking at the time i have done it so many times before i know it well. The rain had washed the other side of the hill away and created a deep donga. So i went in nose first and back wheels in on the lip of the hill. The nose of my hilux was buried in the donga resting on the bullbar. Front wheels just off the ground so they had no traction. I tried reverse but the hilux just spun the back wheels. Time to use my Hi lift jack and spade for the first time. I jacked the front up put rocks under the front wheeels and then drove it out. Stupid mistake but at least i used my hi lift jack! :wink2: Needless to say i learned my lesson and walked all the sections before driving.

Re: cloorkop first time stuck
Well I guess that's better than being recovered by a novice (dare I say female) in a Landy

Re: cloorkop first time stuck
That could have turned nasty, having to be recovered by a Landy...

Re: cloorkop first time stuck
no damage i always go slow, landy was not an option as it had road tyres so would have not driven through the mud.

Dis die quarry daar oorkant die Sasol (ek dink) garage op Allandale rd.
Ry in by die woongebied oorkant, links by stop; ry tot doodloop in veld langs Allandale; volg grond pad al lang Allandale af N1 se kant toe.

Good thing the landie did not go first(or at all). It would then have been a donga filled with oil...

That place is even worse now. Best to go in a group because you are going to get stuck its just a question of where.

Re: cloorkop first time stuck
Not that i'm wishing, but i've not used my hilift jack yet, only the winch to recover another bakkie.Glad to hear the landy was not used,at least the jack does'nt leave oil lying around.
