'06 4.0 V6 CD Player MP3 problems

Post by oxydog »

Hi,

I bought a second-hand 4.0 V6 4X4 D/CAB last week and decided to burn some CD's (CD-RW) with my favourite MP3's. I burned 3 CD's and all of them give the "ERROR 1" message when inserted. Anyone else get this problem?

Thanks in advance

Thanks Mark,

Truth is, all the files were m4a (in iTunes), so I asked iTunes to convert them to mp3 for me. No idea what settings it used. If it uses the same setting as for importing a new audio CD, it would be 192 kbps stereo, I think.

Suggest using another format, don't ask me what it should be, but had the same problem.

Perhaps Cassie or someone can assist?

Jarus, make sure that you are not using a re-writable. I could never get mine to read re-writables.
Also, not sure on the software you are using, but if it has an option to "leave session open" DON'T use that. Make sure that you CLOSE the session. So that you cannot add more MP3s to the CD.

Hope that helps....

Jarus, I would suggest you convert the m4a files to mp3 with something like (Powerconverter) and then create your mp3 cd with Nero(Use Jukebox Audio Cd setting). It might be that iTunes is converting the files into a unreadable format for your mp3 player.

OK, seems my problem is the fact that I'm using CD-RW. I'll have to fork out the 10 bucks to get some CD-R's, I guess.

Why not just use the fm transmitor in you iPod? Or get one of those cigarette lighter fm transmittors that take a flash drive

I had the problem initially when burning MP3 on my home PC and work PC. It depends on the software definitely, I have Roxio at home and when burning a disc I have to go to the 'Make Jukebox'. On my work laptop I have CDBurnerXP and I have to go to 'Data Compilations'.

Hope this helps! Its definitely not your Radio in the Lux!

Strange I use CD RW without any problems (Music encoded in MP3 format) write it as a normal data disc and close the session.

Fm Modulators don`t work very well with the Vigo Hilux radio because of the aerial design.

I ordered one of these over the weekend : http://www.xcarlink.co.uk/product.php?p ... =11&page=1" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; ,cost me R600 ex shipping and taxes.

My older model JVC player had no problem with CD-R or CD-RW discs ..... nor with the bitrate, would read anything I encoded to mp3 ... BUT .... set the sample rate to 44100kb/s. That's the norm ... some players cannot play other sample rates. Record it as a data CD, close the session but leave the disc open so that you can add tracks in a seperate session if it's not full. :winkx:
When your road comes to an end ...... you need a HILUX!.

Report back. Ordered unit on the Sunday and took the more expensive R300 shipping option. Wednesday afternoon TNT was at the front door of my house with the unit. Unbelievable, three working days from London through customs everything. In total the unit cost me R900. Installation was a breeze a simple plug that goes into the CD shuttle port of the Hilux radio. I did not even remove the radio, only the front facial trim, so no tools required for installation. I have removed the radio before I ordered this unit to check for the plug, so I knew where to plug it in without removing it a second time.

The Good:
Really good value for money, almost a third of the price of the Dension unit sold locally, R600 (without shipping) vs R2700 for the Dension unit
Easy installation truly plug and play, no wiring cutting or splicing
Tracks can be skipped with the steering controls
Audio is on par with CD quality, those FM modulators are terrible even the R1000 Berkin one I bought from Incredible Corruption.
The bad:
Album / Track names are not displayed on the radio LCD, only displays CD1, or the playlist name if in playlist mode.

Will I recommend it? Well the only regret I have is that I did not take the optional Bluetooth module. This is an additional R400 and then you have a very nice hands free kit for less than R1500. When I bought the Hilux, Toyota quoted me R9000.00 for a Parrot system  . The unit works really well with my Iphone, it also chargers the Iphone.
So yes I will definitely recommend this. All I need now is a nice cradle for the phone.

Some more info:
The unit has two modes.
Mode 1:
Ipod mode , the ipod screen and controls are fully functional and select the album from the ipod, radio controls are only for selecting track and volume.

Mode 2:
Playlist mode, the ipod screen blanks out, but now you can skip through playlist and tracks.

If anybody here is going to order one, please let me know, I would like to bump a bluetooth unit on with somebodies order. Might be fair seeing as somebody had to be the guinea pig. :D:
