SFA height

Post by cprinsloo »

Hi,

I would appreciate it if somebody can measure their SFA's from the bottom of the fenders to the bottom of the rims, front and back, and post it here.

I'm looking for the distances of vehicles that are "level".

I have replaced my SFA's suspension but because I abuse my bakkie with heavy loads, the front is higher than the back, and it doesn't look too good.

There is about a 100 mm difference in mine, I just need a more accurate figures of what's "normal" (didn't measure mine beforehand, and the front and back wheel arches differ in height). Actual heights doesn't matter, as long as the vehicle is "level".

Cheers,

Chris

Chris, I had the same problem with Bulldog after fitting 6-bladed OME suspension, fore & aft. The remedy was to remove one front blade (3rd one) and I also fitted longer shackles at the rear - the thread is posted here somewhere with pics.

Will measure tomorrow, seem to remember around 770mm but could be wrong here.

Mine seems to stand fairly level ..... front is 830mm and rear is 750mm from bottom of the 15" rims to the fender. It has a Dobinson suspension kit fitted, with standard shackles.
When your road comes to an end ...... you need a HILUX!.

From the top - the one with the funny shaped ends, almost like a wedge. It improved ride comfort as well, drastically!

Hi Chris.
Darrell here from Mikem let's compare your measuerments with mine
Remember we fitted the heavier spring to cater for your load on the rear.
That spring should raise 50mm from std and has 6 blades and the helpers.

What are you current measurements front and rear bottom rim to wheel arch?
The spring could be too soft for your load and we can increase the rate to cater for that.

How much did it raise is the question?and what is your constant load in kg
On the rear of this?
Let's compare a few things on this ok I got measurements from at least 10 vehicles.

We also got an option of extending the rear shackles to get an extra 25mm at
The back but that is not the solution if our load is going to over stress the spring.

Regards
Darrell

800mm All round, OME Springs, Munroe Shocks.
Just because it says "4WD" doesn't make it an off-road vehicle.
