Cammy's Conversion?

Post by indabundu »

Man alive it's me again. Trying to figure out who did the conversion on my Lux. Will post photo soonest, but eager to hear if there are any other "Early Fortuner" prototypes out there. Vehicle is '89, but conversion could have been later, sadly we know very little of the van.

Aaah at long last I can post a pic of the Lux known as Matshwane. The entire body from front bulkhead back is fibreglass.

There was no factory conversion that looked like that. It is probably a custom job, but the mechanicals would be pure Hilux...

There was one other Hilux with a conversion similar to that on the forum a while back.... a blue one.. I also know that in the 90's the Sani was built with a F/G back end. Maybe the same guys also tried their hand at building a Hilux station wagon? Maybe this is one of their test mules?

A guy in Uitenhage got the double cab version of that, very neat, also not sure if it's modified, because the door at the back opens upwards, like the SANI..... :shock2:

Very neat indeed .... It looks like they've moulded a standard canopy onto the back of the vehicle.
When your road comes to an end ...... you need a HILUX!.
