A few other options Bennie... I'm not saying I like them, they are just other SUV options out there:

1. BMW X6... interesting design...probably too pricey??

2. Ford Territory... 4L in-line 6 cylinder... 190kw... 383nm...

3. VW Touareg... 4.2L V8 FSi... 257kw... 440nm... probably too pricey??

Another: Volvo XC90... there's a 3.2L 6 cylinder and a V8 petrol option...

3.2L 6 Cylinder Petrol: 175 kW... 320Nm

4.4L V8: 232 kW... 440Nm

All the tech details here: http://www.volvocars.com/za/all-cars/vo ... -spec.aspx

I've never driven a Volvo... but I've always admired them!

Volvo just like a Ssangyong Musso is a car for life, one of my colleagues is driving his 3rd Volvo already, not by choice but the only way to get rid of the thing by not giving it away for free is to trade in on another Volvo at the agents. No thanks.

Volvo might be an expensive car to maintain, but it is most definitely the safest car around, ever! It's probably the best engineered car out of any, bar none. If I could afford one I'd buy it tomorrow.

Volvo_Dog has a very nice ring to it, and I have always been partial to Volvos, since the B16, B18, B20 eras. Fantastic motor car!

You just could'nt kill the old Volvo B series motors .... artillery proof! ... the bodies were pretty hard as well but the motors still outlasted them ... and not too bad on fuel, even with the twin SU carbs. Don't make 'em like they used to! :think:
When your road comes to an end ...... you need a HILUX!.

I'm with Bennie on this one. Volvo may be really good vehicles, but you will NEVER be able to get away from the brand once you've bought one. Kia and the like, doesn't float my boat either... Stick with the Germans or Japanese - they really know ho to make cars! :thumbup:

I rest my case... :mrgreen: :mrgreen: :mrgreen: :mrgreen: :mrgreen: :mrgreen:

Had to do this. This is the first time, ever, that a colleague has used low range on their Prado. This is the epitomy of the Sandton 4x4. I quote her mail below;

"Last weekend at the Vaal – BMW got stuck in the mud, Pajero got stuck trying to rescue the BMW – and the Prado came to the rescue of both and towed them both out at the same time – and the wheels didn’t even spin!

Gotta love Toyota!"
