:wth:
Nick, I have never seen a tear like that one before! I have however seen those holes worn or elongated. The standard double-pipe back bumper has a step-down bracket from the chassis and has leverage over those bolts when towing. What I have done to mine is to weld a length of 5 x 50 mm flat bar gusset to the inside of the chassis rail and redrill the holes after building up the wear. Then I lengthened the bumper mounts and drilled a third hole, bolted the bumper in and welded the nuts in place on the inside so that they cannot shift. I dare say it is infinitely stronger now, and have from time to time used the tow hitch as a recovery point without any problems. The possibility still exists though, that I will one day bend the pipe bumper if I continue to use this as a recovery point. :problem:

Powerful stuff. There is proof of why people should be very careful when doing kinetic recoveries. The forces involved is just mind blowing.

Puik idee

Lekker strong now Nick! .... even overkill if I dare say so.
it will take some serious forces to break it now!
