General Grabber A/T vs. Dulers 697

Post by shiv17 »

Hi guys
I got a serious puncture today on my duler 694. (Steel Bracket on freeway)
I am now at crossroads... Which tyre to put on, Looking to change 2 on the same axle.
Anybody got the General grabbers? What mileage can be expected out of them.
98% of driving will be done on road, with the occasional trail when time permits.
Thanks guys

I know Toyota SA issued a bulletin stating that they have a number of customers complaining about a vibration on the tyres when driving between 95 and 120 km/h. I also mentioned the issue to the dealership.

The problem with the Duellers fitted OEM to the bakkies is that the bakkies often end up being stored for months before selling them. This means that these "fresh" tyres are stationary in one position for months on-end and I don't think that the tyre pressures are checked and adjusted as necessary during storage and I am certain that they are not moved. After manufacture the tyres still keep on curing which means they cure in that position. A friend of mine recently bought a new DC 4x4 and had the same problem. He had the tyres balanced, rotated on the rim and tried a number of different solutions to no avail. It was clear that the tyres had a flat spot on each of them. The were eventually replaced with new duellers by Toyota.

Howzit Shivaan.I fitted a set of Grabbers to my 2,8 d dc which I sold about a year ago.I was very impressed with the all round performance (taking the cost price of the Grabbers compared to some of the better known brands ).I cannot give you the expected mileage as I sold the 4x4 after doing about 15 000 kilos on the Grabbers and the tyres did not appear to have much wear on them.

I then purchased a 2,5 d4d 4x4 and also fitted the Grabbers to it and have now done about 20 000 kilos on them with much the same result.Time will tell.I can honestly state that I am happy with my Grabbers.
