Backseat storage solution

Post by george »

Since it is only me and SWAMBO I decided to remove my backseat and make a bit more use of the space.

Firstly I build a box out of angle iron and flatbar.(OK I designed it, but I used a friend of mine's welder appy and his tools  )
It can house 2x ammo boxes which I can slide out if needed.I only plan to put spares,tools/recovery gear in there.Since i am not going to use it a lot I didn't bother with slides and so one :dance1: . The box just slides on the angle.I made it a bit longer to house the compressor.

On top of that I put 2x 3 drawer plastic boxes that will be me and SWAMBO's wardrobe or whatever.

The next job is to make a canvas bag to place at the back of the cab

I still need to play around with the configuration. I tested it on a gravel road and there is a lot of squeaks and rattels that the plastic drawers make :problem:
I have a smaller unit that was supposed to go in between the 2 units. Maybe I will put ammo boxes on the side and than the storage unit in the middle facing forward to the driver and passenger for storage like cameras and odds and ends

Lyk goed George

Die eenigste kritiek is daai plastic laaie en raam is nie so sterk nie. Het al van hulle probeer en ja goedkoop, maar sou eerder 'n sterker raam bou met nog ammo bokse
