Bad driving in neighbouring countries

Post by Martin K »

The front page of the star this morning (14-02-08) caries a story about 4X4 drivers in Namibia and Mozambique destroying the environment and generally not behaving well. The article states that due to clampdowns in South Africa the hooligan element amongst us is now exporting bad behavior. Our neighbors are asking the South African authorities to help them curb this type of destructive action.

I was wondering what people on this forum thought about this and what there experiences and observations have been. Could this be a problem and what to do?

Ja, it only takes a few rotten apples.

I have often been upset about this. In arniston , CT, one can still drive to some fishing holes, to a certain point.

Now recently I was there, without a wheeler and walked the distance. Thought I was going to die of heartattack :D

On my way there, I saw some reckless drivers who drove straight up the face of some dune. There are notices all over the place to stay off the dunes. Soon they going to close arniston completely as well.

I just hope our neighbours do not take our governments, ostrich like head-in-sand approach to rectify this problem.

PS, do you guys think there will ever be an end in sight for the ban, with hooligans like that out there.

I'm looking to buy a wheeler again for mainly fishing purposes, but what is the use if I can't use it on the sand?

The problem is not only 4x4ers. It is a total disregard for law and order. If you look at the road situasion, lots of drivers drive as they wish and nothing is done about that. And those drivers are making it hell for all of us.

The same applies to 4x4ers. Most of us obay the the law and watch where we drive etc. But you get the few $%#^@# which have a total disregard for laws etc. And the problem is that with 4x4 hooligans, they don't just disappear into the masses. m2cw

And that is causing the problem with the ozone layer! :?: :!:
