My 1999 2.7i 4x4 d/c

Post by Ramkat »

I took the big step about 2 months ago to get rid of my 1993 SFA Hilux and went for IFS suspension. The decision was mainly based on comfort, speed, power, better breaking, and an aircon that works properly. I'm sure i will pay the price off-road, but in this game, you have to compromise, no matter what you drive.
Here's a few pics, still plenty of tidying up and a few small modifications and ad-ons to be done.

Oom Eric,

I got a few suprises on the bakkie, had to replace a few things: Radiator was leaking, idler arm had to be replaced, both lower balljoints needs to be replaced. Aircon needed gas, front disc pads needed to be replaced. I've replaced the exhaust system with full stainless, and fitted the new mags and tyres.

Torsion bars was wound up to the maximum which gave it the nice height, but probably caused the balljoints to be worn as bad as they are combined with the 10j rims and 32' tyres. I've turned back the torsion bars to where they should be, and now the nose is lower than the back.

I want to do a body lift to get a bit more height and to get it level again. Any advice on this will be appreciated.

Jack a few questions if I may.

I have the same problem that the backside is higher than the front so it becomes a pain when parking and needing to use the RTT, that last pic have you raised the front? If yes what have you used?
