What size and make tyres to buy for 2.7i IFS

Post by Ramkat »

I had 31'' Cooper STT'S on my SFA. I got good mileage, and they were excellent off-road. Don't know if it was the bakkie or the tyres, but road holding wasn't great on tar.

I bought 2.7 IFS now and it has 32" BFG'S on. I haven't done any serious off-roading with them yet, but holds excellent on normal gravel road at high speeds. My problem with the BFG'S compared to the Coopers is that the road noise on the BFG'S are terrible, much worse than the Coopers. Not much thread left, so i need to decide what to buy next.

I was thinking 31" Cooper STT again? Any comments?

Hi Jack!

Is this the vehicle from K'Dorp?

I've got 31" Cooper AT on White Fang, no problems, but I have 31" Cooper STT on Bulldog. Roadholding fine on tar - although it seldom rains here - road noise an issue at 80km/hr but seems to become less of a problem at higher speeds.

Photos, man, photos! ;)

hi , i would say go back to 31" . The 32 feels a little under powerd on highway use (on my lux) , low range offroad its ok (buddies 2.7) on my lux i'm going 4,875 on the rear diff to restore some power even for the soon to be 33 . All i can say about the brands , i love BfG Muds . If noise are a problem , get a Benz or Blik met wiele . Ha ha

I tested my 35" Cooper STT's for the first time this weekend and have to say I love them! It's still the old thread pattern(a lot like BF's) and road noise is heavy, but grip is awesome!

Thanks for the feedback. I decided to go for 31". Cooper of BFG. No BFG'S available anywhere in the country. Please phone your local dealers for prices and availability.

Prices I got was R1970 each for 31x10.5 Cooper STT and R1690 for BFG mud.

Please let me know if anyone can find BFG'S or Coopers at better price.

You might be able to get 31" Maxxis at a better price - Jon was running a special for forum members not so long ago.

Not too keen on MAXXIS. would like to stick to Coopers or BFG.

Hi Thanks

Rear = Camil + 50 mm longer shackels
Front = Camil + 30 mm Balljoint spacers + torsion bar lift (small upwind)

But i'm busy swopping the front out with a "solid axle swop"

And for the BFG + Cooper tires Phone ( HI Q voortrekker Pretoria )

I know they they had a few bfg's in stock in laast week .
