2010 Hilux "Bump" at full stop and then pull away??

Post by VeeS1x »

Hi guys,

My Hilux (2010 dbl cab 4l v6 auto 4x4) has a weird sensation when breaking and coming to a complete stop. Feels like theres a slight bump from the back. SOMETIMES. And then when pulling off, also feels like whatever bowling ball that rolled forwards when I stopped, now rolled back again. slight bump feeling.

Now I googled like crazy and found this to be a common problem if the slip-yoke is dry.

The bakkie went in for its 60 000km service about a month ago. I could clearly see a lot of grease around the u-joints so i'm wondering: could it be the slip-yoke?

Has anyone here experienced similar issue?

Could be that or... have you checked that your spare wheel is tightened properly?

My 2006 Fortuner 4.0 doen dieselfde.

Standaard of longrange.

I had / have the same issue with my 4.0 Hilux. Toyota first replaced the torque converter then the rear prop on my vehicle.

The new prop solved the problem for 10000km, now its back.

Off the Australian hilux forum i see that they have the same problem, and some of my mates with FJ's have the same issue.

I amm going to drop the truck by teh dealer and get him to grease the slip joint again.

Hope this helps.
