Dream becoming reality
My life long dream is becoming reality Life on the road
The house has been sold and all the furniture is now in storage. Me and the missus will hit the road next week Monday. Still a few things to sort out this week. The van is almost ready.Just waiting for the Mikem leaf springs. Then some personal things to sort out and then A for AWAY
We will take it easy the first couple of months and spent some time in the Eastern Cape,Lesotho,Transkei. In October I should be in Gauteng where we need to fly down to the Cape again to attend some family commitments. Then we fly back and we will start crossing the border into Moz then Malawi,Tanzanie,Kenia. At this point in time we do not have a clear route yet and will take it as it comes.
I hope to meet some members on the road and will keep you guys posted on where we are. I do not have any time constraints. When the money runs out I will have to return or start earning money wherever I am. So ja we will probably be more like Gypsy's than overlanders
Keep you guys posted. One week to go

That takes courage! Congrats so far, and here's wishing the two of you all the best along the road. Safe travels!!
When your road comes to an end ...... you need a HILUX!.
Life is like a jar of Jalapeño peppers ... what you do today, might burn your ass tomorrow.
Don't take life too seriously ..... no-one gets out alive.
It's not about waiting for storms to pass. It's about learning to dance in the rain.
And be yourself ..... everyone else is taken!

M I L is living in the guestroom, otherwise you would have been welcome .... you could camp on our front lawn if you don't mind the dogs (and they don't mind you!!!), otherwise there is a campsite down at the beach not far from us.george wrote:Closer to the time you can maybe recommend some good campsites.Or maybe I must push my luck and you takes us to your place in the sticksMud Dog wrote:An INVITATION!!! Oh, you're welcome to camp there too if you like. How long are you intending to be in the area? Maybe we could arrange to go up with you and show you where it is and then you can stay on if you like?

Yep Pieter, that phrase worried me as well. But I did not know what sex George's child was, he did not say so I reluctantly used that disgusting term hoping that no one would notice

Re: Dream becoming reality
Hey George,
Probably going to miss you, cause I'll probably get back on Tuesday... Not sure which route you are taking, but I will probably stay over at Karoo National on Monday night back to Cape Town... if you two are in the area, come and share the campsite....
Otherwise, have the greatest time out there..

Re: Dream becoming reality
Just an update. After leaving Cape Town on Monday we stayed a night in Sandbaai and then we where off to Oudtshoorn to greet friends and family and dropped off the little white one.So this morning our trip started officially.
We arrived at Keurbooms and setup our first camp with hopefully many more to follow. http://www.archrock.co.za/index.php
We will stay here for a couple of days and basically sort out our camping stuff and routine.Everything is a bit off a mess. But hey we are here
