Project - Vigo Rock Sliders
Second last "must project" for this year. I have started last night with a friend of mine's rocksliders for his Vigo. A few photies:

Nice Louis
How many mounting points are you planning onto the chassis?
Suggest x3 as I see you also have hi-lift points in place min 10mm

Mark
I use 2 mounting points. The plates are 12mm - for extra strength and it gets bolted to the chasis with M12 bolts. I have quite a structure in between the mounting points, and did not have any problems on my IFS up to now. Here is a photo of the Fortuner set I've made.

Re: Project - Vigo Rock Sliders
Nice and sturdy construction! My only comment would be that the outward facing "points" will hook bushes / branches and pull them in against the vehicle .... could scratch the doors quite badly.
When your road comes to an end ...... you need a HILUX!.

It's not about waiting for storms to pass. It's about learning to dance in the rain.

Re: Project - Vigo Rock Sliders
Andy, you must have those angles. The Vigo and Fortuner has a "funny" shape at the rocker panel area. If not you loose "length" of the slider or you can not come close enough to the body. The changes of branches hooking is slim as you have your front fender arch mouldings that is also standing proud.Mud Dog wrote:Nice and sturdy construction! Re: Project - Vigo Rock Sliders
Aah, OK, ..... I understand. So that would only be the case if you keep the slider close to the body ... would it still protrude enough to serve as a step as well?

Yes, the sliders must preferably be level with the furthest point on the doors as a minimum. This will give it a little step, and obviously if you move it a little bit more "out" the step becomes bigger.

Well, there is progress. I should finish the "slide parts" tonight. Welding is around 90% done and grinding @ 50% - I hate grinding . This set will be colour coded - will be interesting. More photies:

I don't. By the time the 4.5mm rust through, I will be long gone
Seriously, I normally drill small holes at the bottom to ensure water can drain, but because this set is colour coded I am thinking of sealing any possible openings with Sika.
