3ct 2.2 diesel ombouings

Kry so 11km/l op average......
Hy het 2.2 petrol 4y in hulle eers gehad.... Daar is ook 'n ander opsie waarna my Oom kyk.... 'n 3.1TD Isuzu wat ook ingevoer word. Sy vriend wil die in sy Isuzu Trooper insit (huidiglik V6 petrol in). So gaan eers kyk hoe reliable dit is.

We have a 3c motor in our lux. It started its life as a 4Y petrol, it is now a 3C diesel conversion. We use our lux mainly for overlanding and trails. The engine is strong enough for this. When putting in a 3C, make sure that you replace tour existing radiator with a 4 core radiator. As its a diesel engine, the radiator needs to be bigger than what you have in the lux at the moment. Otherwise, we get around 10km/litre, and loving it. We have found that the engine is not strong enough for dune climbing, but for the rest, no complaints.

Nicky
Do you have the 3C or 3CT?
Could you post some pictures when you get a chance?
I'm getting a 3CT for my van aswell, are you running the 3c's flywheel with the 2.2"s clutch?
Cheers Zane

I run a 3CT in my 'Lux. personally I find the overall power and drivability very similar to a standard 4Y but MUCH better consumption. I get between 8.5 and 10 liters per 100Km (but usually 9.5)
only problem I have had? I have never been able to get all the air out the cooling system when I use a thermostat so I have to run without one, meaning the heater is not akll that effective in winter
Do I recommend it?
Yes

Re: 3ct 2.2 diesel ombouings
Hi Zane, Wayne says: We have the 3CT 2.2 turbo. I was warned against the 2.0 turbo as it is lacking a bit of power for the SFA body. We're still running with the old flywheel.

The correct version is actually like this....Wegbreek wrote:Hi Zane, Nicky's hubby Wayne here.
I understand it like this: 3CT is the 2.2 turbo, and the 3C is the 2.0 turbo..?

1C-T is the 1800 turbo (or 1C plain 1800)
2C-T is the 2000 turbo (or 2C plain 2000)
3C-T is the 2200 turbo (or 3C plain 2200)
just like the petrol version 1Y, 2Y etc
I've never physically seen the plain (or naturally aspirated) diesels, apparently they do exist.

Re: 3ct 2.2 diesel ombouings
Hi there! Lekker this hilux lifestile.. I need some help please. I do adventure trips for the "plakkerskamp kinders" in danville elandspoort, bonnecord etc... I'm selling my best bakkie ever a 99" 2.7i 2x4 hilux for a 1998 dc 4x4. This vehicle has a ford v6 that i took out origianally it came with a 2.8 diesel. I am looking at getting a 3ct or kzte. I just whant to know: the performansce on a 3ct do you have enough power to overtake from a cruising speed of 110-120km/ph. I am aslo looking at fitting a intercooler? + this vehicle's old man emu shocks are done any suggestions on something simmular for a better price?

Re: 3ct 2.2 diesel ombouings
My uncle recently fitted a front mount intercooler on his single cab (Isuzu intercooler) and he says it's going like a boeing. Recently done dune driving with it, and there's a big difference in power and "not trekking dood" So when you decide onthe 3C-T, do the intercooler thing as well!

R22k if you do it properly. That's if a mechanic do it with proper radiator etc.
