My name is Neil Harrison and I am a Hilux addict

Post by writerguy »

Greetings to all those similarly afflicted,

Have spent a long time lurking on this site and thought it was time to introduce myself formal like.

I recently bought myself a '95 DC SFA import and am very much in my noppies with her.

My only regret is that I waited so long before satisfying my Hilux addiction.

Something I've noticed while driving my Hilux around is that other Hilux owners (mostly the guys driving older machines) will acknowledge your presence with a gentle nod, or a finger raise off the steering wheel.

This I really like.

So if some oke in a old Hilux waves at you, moenie panic nie, it's probably just me.

Neil

Greeting Neil...

My name is Bretton... my naam is Bretton...

I too am a Hilux addict... and like Shabir Shaik... my condition is terminal... and I'll have to live with this condition for the rest of my life... unlike the lesser 'Jeep' and 'LandRover' addictions, Hilux addicts have no chance of recovery or remission...

Welcome!

Welcome Neil.

I knew from the very beginning you would eventually settle on a Hilux. But just going out and buying a Hilux wouldn't have made a good, publishable story. :D:

Congrats with the Hilux.

Thank you dankie almal vir the vriendelike worde.

I can see that I'm going to have to be on my toes around this gang...

I will post pics of the Hilux at some point but at this stage I am embarrased to admit that I have yet to venture off-road in her. And posting photos of her standing in my driveway at home just seems wrong. Also it would allow you to see what happens when an oke scrapes just a little bit of loose paint off the front of his house and then loses interest.

There are a couple of mechanical concerns I need to have addressed before I get my/her/our feet dirty.

But have no fear, the moment she gets the green light I will once again demonstrate my much talked about ability to get a 4x4 stuck in places where no-one thought a 4x4 would ever get stuck.

Till then, would someone please buy my canopy over in the 4Sale section.

Welcome Neil. It is an absolute pleasure having you here, and congratulations on your purchase.

Was following your project with keen interest as I was going through a similar process, I was shopping around for "that" vehicle. Fortunately I did what I knew what the right thing all along and get my backside back into a Hilux. Was expecting that you'd make the intelligent choice as well.

Must say from the pic I saw in the Magazine it is a rather good looking Hilux (all of them look good).

Will be following your upgrades with interest.
