It's looking nice, but you must get to the source of that noise ... it's not healthy and could result in further damage.

Hi Quintin,

I have am going to take a chance and say that i suspect that the oulet bearing on the transfer case has got play and is worn, and maybe your rear diff needs to have the backlash set correctly. Also the carrier bearings on the rear diff might have run dry at some stage and now the damage is making them rumble and noises that you hear.

I hope you get your van sorted out. Its looking good.

Hi John thanks for that I will check it out is it the outlet bearing on the rear prop shaft or to the front and how can I check it? The rear diff was done by ultimate 4x4 in PTA so it should be ok but there are off coarse no guarantees that they did adjust it properly. Will the centre bearing only make that noise when there is no power on it?

Hi I am back again and working on my bakkie, can anyone out there please help me with the 4x4 light in the cluster, if I select 4 wheel drive the light should go on where on the gearbox is that sensor and is the sensor switching ground or is it a live wire.

Quintin

If I remeber correctly, it sits on the top right of the gearbox (lying under the van with your head towards the front)of the box just by the gear lever selector(4X4).

I got 1 for Toybox awhile ago, so I'm sure he will be able to tell you how to get to it in position and what pole it's switching on.
