I’ve been to New Zealand. The basic shape is the same. It is just the construction material that differs. In NZ they talk about a brick and tile house. There brick and tile house is 4.5 inch brick on the out side and soft board on the inside. Where in S.A. we use double row bricks. Making it a 9 inch wall.

That's outside, internal walls are single skin brick at 4½ inches plastered.

Because of our warm climate, most homes have outside entertainment areas and swimming pools.

oh that last house looked nice,
me and my girlfriend want to make a straw/wood house, and with green energy and so on...

but also we want to put something of other cultures into our house too, of the countries that speak to us, like SA, italy, jamaica, hawaii, and the mountain villages in austria and germany, :)

Not all internal walls are singles. If it is a load bearing wall it has to be double.

Not all internal walls are singles. If it is a load bearing wall it has to be double.
If it's double story and the load is a concrete deck, then yes, but single story with only roof truss load is generally still 4½.
But then again building codes vary a little between different municipalities.
