AAADD
KNOW THE SYMPTOMS.....PLEASE READ!
Thank goodness there's a name for this disorder.
Somehow I feel better, even though I have it!!
Recently, I was diagnosed with A.A.A.D.D. -
Age Activated Attention Deficit Disorder.
This is how it manifests:
I decide to water my garden.
As I turn on the hose in the driveway,
I look over at my car and decide it needs washing.
As I start toward the garage,
I notice mail on the porch table that
I brought up from the mail box earlier.
I decide to go through the mail before I wash the car.
I lay my car keys on the table,
put the junk mail in the garbage can under the table,
and notice that the can is full.
So, I decide to put the bills back
on the table and take out the garbage first.
But then I think,
since I'm going to be near the mailbox
when I take out the garbage anyway,
I may as well pay the bills first.
I take my check book off the table,
and see that there is only one check left.
My extra checks are in my desk in the study,
so I go inside the house to my desk where
I find the can of Pepsi I'd been drinking
I'm going to look for my checks,
but first I need to push the Pepsi aside
so that I don't accidentally knock it over.
The Pepsi is getting warm,
and I decide to put it in the refrigerator to keep it cold.
As I head toward the kitchen with the Pepsi,
a vase of flowers on the counter
catches my eye--they need water.
I put the Pepsi on the counter and
discover my reading glasses that
I've been searching for all morning.
I decide I better put them back on my desk,
but first I'm going to water the flowers.
I set the glasses back down on the counter,
fill a container with water and suddenly spot the TV remote.
Someone left it on the kitchen table.
I realize that tonight when we go to watch TV,
I'll be looking for the remote,
but I won't remember that it's on the kitchen table,
so I decide to put it back in the den where it belongs,
but first I'll water the flowers.
I pour some water in the flowers,
but quite a bit of it spills on the floor.
So, I set the remote back on the table,
get some towels and wipe up the spill.
Then, I head down the hall trying to
remember what I was planning to do.
At the end of the day:
the car isn't washed
the bills aren't paid
there is a warm can of Pepsi sitting on the counter
the flowers don't have enough water,
there is still only 1 check in my check book,
I can't find the remote,
I can't find my glasses,
and I Don't Remember What I did With The car Keys.
Then, when I try to figure out why nothing got done today,
I'm really baffled because I know I was busy all day,
and I'm really tired.
I realize this is a serious problem,
and I'll try to get some help for it,
but first I'll check my e-mail...
Do me a favor.
Forward this message to everyone you know,
because I don't remember who I've sent it to.
Don't laugh -- if this isn't you yet, your day is coming!

Re: For Eric
I'm sure F_D will appreciate this. Did I say F_D? ... sorry I meant Eric .... who is F_D? .... must be one of the younger newbies on the forum, hope he does'nt take exception to my having forgotten who he is ....but there are a lot of members here and we can't be expected to know them all, right? Even so, I know a lot of them, let's see ... there's BenHur like the movie (was it Rock Hudson or Peter O'Toole ... can't recall), and there's Benny and Cassie, and then there's Cat's Parts (strange avatar, I prefer to call him Thuys), and Sniper (must be an awsome shot) and the guy who was a Scorpion but became a lawyer after they were disbanded ... err, yes, Johan I think, and .... oh yes! F_D! Now I recall, he's the guy who likes dogs .... jolly old fellow (I think). Oh what the hell, I'll remember tomorrow.
When your road comes to an end ...... you need a HILUX!.
Life is like a jar of Jalapeño peppers ... what you do today, might burn your ass tomorrow.
Don't take life too seriously ..... no-one gets out alive.
It's not about waiting for storms to pass. It's about learning to dance in the rain.
And be yourself ..... everyone else is taken!

Re: For Eric
Actually, I'm beginning to wonder about this too. Some of you have seen the equipment in my Home Theatre room, much of it is home-built (valves, of course! ) and mounted in two 2-Metre tall aluminium enclosures fitted with wood veneer on the sides and a smoked gray glass door on the front. Then I have shelves mounted inside of varying heights to mount the equipment on. Audio, and sound reproduction, is one of my other hobbies, as is antique radio and hi-fi equipment, which I love restoring.
Anyway, my ancient old MultiChoice DSTV decoder was playing up, every time I changed channels I lost either sound, picture or both (Thanks, MultiChoice! ). I was told that the old equipment (not so old , by the way, bought in 2003) could no longer be upgraded and I had to buy a new decoder. Yeah, right, Multichoice, you guys obviously need more money! So I bought a new one and opened the smoked glass door to remove the old DSTV decoder and fit the new one. Some fiddling to do, as I had to remove the old TV-type connectors and refit F-Type connectors. All in all, a 10 minute job and everything worked just finel.
Half an hour later, I noticed that my Staffie, Tammy, was missing. Now, I knew she wasn't outside the house because all the external doors were shut, but I couldn't find her anywhere in the house. I searched the house three times, looking under beds, behind cupboards, even behind the HT enclosure, as I had moved it forward whilst doing the cabling, but no go. After 20 minutes, I searched the HT room again - and found her sweet little face just looking at me, locked inside the ali equipment enclosure!! I never noticed this from the doorway because there's a floor-standing speaker in the way and the room is not that well lit at night because it is a Home Theatre entertainment room after all. I wished I had taken a photo of her, sitting on her haunches and just staring at her daddy... but extremely happy to be let out! And no, no oxygen deprivation, because the rear of the cabinet is open but there was nowhere near enough space for her to get out there.
Happiness is a grateful dog, who couldn't stop licking me afterwards....
-F_D (Who did not lock her into the cupboard - she got in there all by herself and sat down all by herself)

Re: For Eric
Andy, I have been at home these past three days (Mon, Tues & Wed) because of no clothes to wear to work due to the burst valve in my ceiling drenching the clothes cupboard in my bedroom, and, of course, no electricity (for the 3rd day - I believe I might be repeating myself here... ;) ) and then on Tuesday & Wednesday the Guys came to repair the damage caused by the sudden cloudburst we had in February (160mm rain in under an hour). But this morning at work was a different story - three days work to condense into one morning! I was off again this afternoon with another mission to sort out...
Kindly adjust your graph to reflect the true picture now that you have all the facts...
Next week or so they will come replace the ceiling and cupboard in my bedroom and repaint same, so bear (bare?) that in mind as well...

Not Tammy the Staffie, but my Mom! We deleted some posts that were irrelevant to this topic, so I can understand the confusion
Anyway, Mom's out of Hospital now and back at the Retirement Village.
And Tammy is safely *out* of the cupboard, I tried to get her back in so I could take a photo of her, but she wouldn't oblige...
Now, where did i put that chocolate bar......

I really enjoy relaxing with the 2 tall lady's in lounge(big cans) singing to me, but with my young children in bed sleeping... I don't often get the chance... so a top quality set of cans comes in handy!Family_Dog wrote:I think I should invest in a good set of cans as well, the sound that comes out is incredible!
