Is there anybody around here who makes a living from fitting alarm systems?
We have a little Tazz and it has an aftermarket alarm/anti hijack system fitted. This thing has a button to press after you started the car and then if you forgot it activates the car's hooter. This normally happens just as you pass the blonde who's taking her dog for a walk or the neighbour who is tanning topless. So it is quite annoying.

I checked the system and there is a lot of wires going out of it. On the box it says "AutoWatch" 211 hi and there is somethign about a 3way something. If there is anybody who knows these things can you please tell ne which wire connects to the hooter. I wants to disconnect it and connect it to a little buzer which I can put inside the car.

I did the very same mod Pieter, as the horn would sound and upset many a motorist in front of me. :wth:

1st bit of good news is that there is no colour coding, all the wires are black

What you must do is remove the trims around your steering column. This should expose the point where they spliced into the cables. Check the colour of the cable supplying the horn (under the bonnet/behind the radiator grill) then source it back to the harness on the steering column.

What I did was to wire to the siren instead, this results in a bip instead of a hoot.

Pieter, you can override the anti hijack function on the autowatch systems, by pressing both the hidden button and the button to disarm the system. The alarm should sound twice to indicate that it is off.

Also when it is off and you press the hidden button it will sound the alarm horn to indicate it is turned off. Hope it helps....

Thank you for the advice. Cassie, it is still the Toyota remote, when I started to work on it, it seems like they used the factory fitted alarm and just added the anti hijack system to it.

I went the buzzer route. The first buzzer a installed was too soft, could not hear it but then I bought a big one and now it is much better.

For all it is worth, it was the green/black wire BUT to blow the horn you must earth this wire. Thus there is power on the horn all the time and if you earth this little wire it will blow. So I had to connect the one end of the buzzer on a life wire and then the other end to the anti hi-jack wire and it worked.

Apologies for resurrecting an ancient thread. I'm considering installing this very same system in my Hilux Vigo.

May I ask what is your experience and opinion of it?

Hi, I have a 1995 SFA. It has central locking fitted, but the central locking only opens 1 door. The keys I have, works in the ignition, but it does not lock/unlock the doors.

Is there anybody who can help, either to fix the central locking/ restore anything to original with a working key for the door locks?

Remove you door locks and take it to a locksmit with the ignition key,they will change locks for you so that they can work with the ignition key

phone around for a new alarm to be fitted I think I paid R1600 for my sfa because insurance demanded it.Then you have new remotes/alarm and a guarantee.If you are still looking someone I could ask my brother he worked in the Cape for 8 years for Netstar.

had the 130 corolla engine completely redone, and now the alarm giving problems.
car stood for about a month without battery before we got it to machie to recon engine.
when we wanted to start it before going to machine, engine would just swing.

machine says now engine running fine, but it's struggline to start.
he says there no current coming to coil. Would that be immobilizer?

i think it still factory alarm.
central locking still works, alarm still beeps... but just not starting the car.

What would be best option? Aftermarket?

No juice to coils could be immobilizer but could also be transponder related (if your model is fitted with one). Have you tried another key?

As I understand, the transponder integrated into the key does not use a battery, and is apart from the remote locking part of the key, so even though the battery for that is locking / unlocking the doors, it has no bearing on the ignition lock side of the transponder unit being able to read the key.

it's the old alarms, with the key and alarm seperate.

We have another corolla same model.
Could one take out alarm ECU from the one and put in the other?

I just want to test before spending R1800 on an aftermarket alarm and the problems turns out to be bad connection or busted relay

It's worth a try.

A good auto electrician can bypass the coil from the alarm to fault find.
If it is the alarm causing the fault, then i suggest to disconnect that function only and let the rest work as usual, central locking etc. Alarms are very easily bypassed by those who know what they doing (thieves).

Use separate kill switches with relays to the coil, ignition etc. instead of a installing a new alarm. Anti-hijack type switches can easily be hidden under carpets etc. It will be much more cheaper than replacing the alarm and also more secure than an aftermarket alarm as it will be difficult to locate the cut points and switches if done correctly.
