Good Day, Members,
I want to ask: Is it possible to put a 1kd or 2kd engine into a 4th Gen aka SFA 4x4 Hilux? If it is possible what sorts of modifications would be required? Assuming it is possible, is this a good conversion for the good old and solid SFA?
I look forward to hearing what people have to say. Thank you in advance to all willing to share their knowledge.

Yes, there are a few around. It's the same block as the KZTE engine so it fits, I think getting the electronic side to work is more of an issue as you don't have many of the sensors needed. If you want to do it, you should probably get a full front cut, with the ECU, harness and engine.

Thank you for your feedback. I have always been one to keep things standard. However, the thought of such a conversion just crossed my mind. From your explanation, it sounds like quite a specialized operation. Certainly not the sort of job I will be attempting in my backyard. Having said that given the opportunity I would love to see one of those conversions.
