Mechanical fuel pump

Hello to all and to all be well.
My first time here, thank you for having me.
I have recently both a 93 4y 2.2 hilux 4x4, the previous owner had it running on propane gas
but i have disconnected it but he also changed out the carburetor and in an American one so the original carb is gone, i will be buying an original carb soon but my issue is the other day i was driving and it violently started to hopping, jutting forward i clutched in rolled for a bit put it in second 20m more it did it again but cut out this time. I let it sit for a few minutes then tried starting it, it splutter to a start then idles perfect so ok ill go home but not 50m up the road it start hopping again, it took me nearly 15 starts to get home. I think because it had propane gas the mechanical pump was working but restricted.
The carb needs to go but for now its working.
