hilux left side shaft

Hi fellow hiluxers.
last week i had my left cv boot done. afterwards i picked up that that there was a strange sound coming from the underside of the bakkie. first i noticef that the inner cv was damaged during outer replacement which the workshop undertookbto replace. i also noticed a big washer which seemsbto be loose, definately excessive play on it. can this be how it is supposed to be. attached is a photo showing quite a big gap between the cv and diff and the washer.
