Happy new Prado owner - which shocks to fit ? (need advice please!)

Hi guys!

My 2002 Prado appears to still have the original shocks fitted (after 400 000 kms!!) They urgently need replacement. The suspension is still standard and has not been "lifted" - because of that, the local LA Sport can't help me because they only fit TJM shocks for "lifted" suspension, which would not work on mine. Finances are a bit limited so I can't go the most expensive route - which shocks would be suggested?

Got a quote on Iron Man shocks, but +R11 000 sounds a bit (and is definitely !) excessive and above my budget.

I had a discussion about the Monroe Ranchero range - apparently the "premium" heavy duty" off-road version for the LWB vehicles, and also adjustable with 8 or 9 different settings. (awaiting quotes on these but it might be in the region of about R6k-R7k) I am also told that the standard heavy duty Monroes would not last, and that Gabriel does not offer any suitable solution ?

Any suggestions or advice from the wise men out there ? Options in Mossel Bay and George are fairly limited...

Spoke to a chap at Darryl's on the phone and he suggested Bilsteins. Also had a look at the Bilstein website and got the partnrs for the 95 series Prado.

Goldwagen quoted me approx. R8 000 (supply only) for the full set and still awaiting Darryl's quote.... LA Sport in George quoted me R790 for fitment...

Hi Daan. The Bilsteins is for sure a very good shack. It can also be serviced. So my understanding is that basically you will have a shock for life.
I unfortunate can not afford them,so in my Prado i have the Munroe gas shocks that works a treat.

Hi George, did you fit the "Rancho" series or just the normal heavy duty off-road Monroes?
