I joined this forum last year asking for helping choosing the right vehicle for a trip through Southern and Eastern Africa.
My wife and I bought a Hilux KZ-TE 2003, which was already kitted out with a snorkel, rock sliders, drawers, bosbreker, aluminium canopy, OME suspension, etc. Although there was some debate on the price most members commenting on the thread agreed that it was a good buy. After a month of planning we set off on our journey.
We're about to enter Kenya after more than 3 months and so far the Hilux has been amazing. Except for the wheel bearing that we had to replace in Zambia.
We keep a daily journal that we post on our website http://twomonkeys.in.
I'm not sure how big the overlap is between this forum and 4x4community.co.za (or whether that is a taboo around here??), but I also posted the journal there for those who prefer forum browsing above websites. http://www.4x4community.co.za/forum/sho ... a-and-back

Wow! Great journal Hugo.
Spent the most part of today reading from start to current,
and looking forward to the remainder.
You are truly blessed to have embarked on a journey like this.
Best of luck to the rest of your endeavors.
