Hilux 5l noisy above 3000rpm

Hi, i am new to this forum. I have a 2001 Hilux 4×4 with a 5L engine. The problem i am having is the engine gets noisy above 3000rpm and it is sluggish above 3000rpm. Do you guys have any advice as to what could be causing this? Thanks
