Hilux 4x4 Forum

Dust media and Team Offroad are planning a good old series of 4x4 challenges for the 4x4 enthusiast in the Western Cape. The series is aimed at the normal 4x4 enthusiast with standard or slightly modified vehicles. Not vehicle breakers, the WCCC caters for that.

For now we plan 4 events, each with a different type of 4x4 driving as the main theme, e.g. Sand, Night Driving, Rocks, Mud and Water or something like that, all held at different venues.

The finalists of each event will be invited to the grand final at Stone Henge in the Tankwa Karoo to decide the All Terrain Champion of the Western Cape.

Yes, we are excluding the Valies (for now)... because the Valies have a lot of lekker stuff going on there, and we have nothing except the Atlantis Fun Day.. so we decided to start our own stuff here..

Once we perfected it in the Cape, we'll export it to the rest of the country. For now, you are ALL invited to join us at the Bull Run, also organised by Dust Media/Team Offroad.

Anything more than a roof rack & snorkel boet......

We are still working on the dates.

Slightly modified means anything that is not a Challenge car. e.g. pipe-car with 4 wheel steering etc etc. A handicap points system will be in place to put everybody on an even footing.

Ons beplan nog, Kaspaas sal kwalifiseer... Almal kan deelneem, as jy jou vrou/seun/dogter/ouma inksryf as co-pilot score jy bonuspunte... Jou Skoonma, kom jy in aanmerking vir 'n podium posisie..

But seriously now, Gerrie, en ek in 'n mindere mate, werk daaraan om al daardie goed uit te werk. Ons soek 'n reeks events wat pret is vir almal. En dit gaan nie 4 events wees waar mens net tussen vlaggies en paaltjies deurry nie, elke event gaan 'n ander faset van jou offroading skills toets..

Hierdie was bloot 'n teaser, om julle te laat weet hier kom goed aan... watch this space..

Sounds like a great event. If I had some experience I would join you for sure.

How about a seperate training day for other beginners on the forum like me..? Maybe a group special if you get enough people together.. I'd like to learn more about my bakkie and how to best use it when needed under different terrain's..(and it's an excuse to play with my favourite toy... ) I'm sure there are other members also new to 4x4ing that would join.

A training days sounds fantastic. If we can get a group together we can do a training day at a special rate for Hilux Club members. We have a nice Sand driving course at Atlantis, and we can do a Safe Recovery Procedures course as well.

Get the guys together and then we can talk..

I'm keen and will start a topic in the next week or 2 once I know which weekends are open for me. we've got 3 camping trips in the next 6 weeks and I'm renovating my mom's house on the weekends. I'm thinking middle of March..

I would be very keen as well. I missed the recovery training day in October. November's training session clashed with my company year end function, this coming weekend's training clashes with us going camping.

Perhaps next time....

Ha ha. When I start the topic ill list 4 weekends that I am free and then we can choose a weekend that best suits the majority. This will hopefully make it easier for more people to join.

The DUST Challenge Series Midnight Edition is about to kick off... There are some more seats left open if you are still interested and you haven't entered yet. Driving starts at around about 21h00 and finishes at 06h00 the next morning. A while night of driving off road.. mmm When last have you done that??

Dankie Willem dat jy kom help het. Ons waardeer dit baie. Dit was laat werk maar ek glo jy het dit geniet.

The Dust Challenge Series : Sand event is on. Entries opened on Friday and entries are coming in fast. Dont miss out on the opportunity to take part in this event. It is in Atlantis Dunes, on Saturday 4 June 206 during day time.

This will not be a recreation of the Atlantis Fun day. There will be challenges, but they will be more of a fun factor than a absolute scoring factor. Thus, leveling the playing field, so to speak, between the modified sand monsters and the standard showroom vehicles.

If you cannot participate, we always need a few marshals out in the dunes to man some checkpoints.

The DCS-Sand event is going ahead. Not many Hiluxes entered, but I guess thats because they roam the parking lots mostly these days. Entries only close on the weekend if you want to prove me wrong..

We had the Midnight, we had Sand. Now it is time for the next event in the Dust Challenge Series. This time we test our skills in the mud. Mud & Grime!!

The same rules apply, the first 3 finishers gets an automatic entry into the Grand Final where they will compete for the honours of "All terrain Offroad Champion" of 2016.
