2012 Hilux D/C D4D. Vibration at 140klm/h
Hi guys,
I just bought my first Hilux second hand with 40,000klm at Toyota. Well I'm experiencing a very strange discomfort when I drive over 120 up. I have reported to Toyota but they don't find any fault. I'm just wondering if anyone has an issue while drive at that speed. It fills like the bakki cannot coup or is struggling. Its a very light vibrations but annoying that keeps me driving no more than 120kh.

Welcome to the forum!!
What part of the vehicle is the vibration coming from? Have you checked to see if the wheels are balanced correctly? I don't know too much, but that is where I would start to look...?

its the built-in warning that you are exceeding the speed limit. lol
probably wheel balancing or could be tyres worn uneven. Is there any sound that accompanies it?
front of rear?

Can be many things, wheels that is out of balance, a rim that is slightly bent, can be a trye that is oval.
I would say start off by going to a good tyre shop and ask them to check the wheels, if that is perfect look further

Re: 2012 Hilux D/C D4D. Vibration at 140klm/h
Thank you Guys for the feedback.
The vehicle has standard suspension, and standard tires 265/65R17 Dueler A/T.
I have it for a month now, it drives like new except on that speed. when I noticed this issue I reported to Toyota and before delivering for inspection I took it to Tiger wheel to have the tires balanced/ alignment done just to be sure that was not the problem, they also told me the tires are good. maybe this tires are buggy as they are the original when the first owned purchased the vehicle.
regarding the vibration its from the front it sound like wind something in the front plus it very noticeable because the rear view mirror becomes blurry that I cant see very well the vehicle at the back. then I have to decrease the speed that's when I see things properly.
I just feared investmenting any money on a faulty vehicle , however from your advise i will fit new tires then take to Toyota as its still under warranty for them to check prop shaft unbalance.
What Tires do you recommend that are comfortable on budget beside the Dueler? i don't go off-roading allot but drive on gravel often and highways plus love the top speed.

Don't change tyres. Take it back to the dealer and make it their problem. You paid good money for a good working truck? They made a nice profit by selling it to you, therefor they own the problem.

Re: 2012 Hilux D/C D4D. Vibration at 140klm/h
I agree fully, don't spend another cent, take it back and if you need to name and shame the dealer, then so be it. As you can see, there is so many parts that might cause this vibration. It can even be from one shock that has gone, and the tyre starts trebling on the road surface. Wrong balance is normally more noticeable at lower speeds eg 100 km/h. Good luck and keep us posted.

If this is the case, swop front to back, and left to right, cross-over.Then check again.

To have the tyres checked properly, call Bridgestone Technical on i think it was 011 923 7600. Book the vehicle in, do not mention anything else, except for the vibration problem.
They do proper testing on equipment which measures dynamic and static balancing. They will tell you whether there is a problem on the tyres. If no problem on the tyres, take that same report from BS to Toyota as to not be messed around with them saying it`s the tyres.
Toyota should then sort out the issue !!

Oh yes sorry forgot to mention - this should not cost you one sent to have the tyres checked as opposed to having a tyre shop check it for you !!

Thanks everyone for the great feedback I did change tires but the vibe continues and Toyota can't figure what's wrong so looks I had to spend my time dealing with the issue. Anyway I had a good I swap my hilux to an FJ 2011. Very happy, comfortable drive it up 160 no issues, o now has
