Oil Change

Post by louis fourie »

I add 500ml of oil every 1000 to 1500 km to my wife's Toyota Avanza. Do you guys think I must drain the oil with a service or is the regular addition enough to keep the oil "fresh"? The oil on the dipstick is nearly transparent.

Belaglik!!

The oil consumption is a little high but not wild or too excessive. I wouldn't worry about it too much, but it is necessary to replace the old oil ..... otherwise you will have a build-up of impurities / contaminants, carbon and acidity. You could perhaps get away with a slightly longer service interval on the oil, but don't leave it indefinitely. ;-)
When your road comes to an end ...... you need a HILUX!.
