Shell Ultra City on left Before Bloemfontein from JHB Theft
Just a brief warning to everybody that is passing through on their way to Bloemfontein, I stopped off at this Shell Ultra City this afternoon at 12h40 to put some fuel in the car, I then drove around to the car park and went into Steers for a milkshake. Parking the car separate from other cars as well.
When I arrived back in Queenstown I only then noticed that some @#%$^&*&%^*!!!?? had used a remote from an electric gate and they had pressed it at the same time as I was pressing my remote to lock the car door and the car door did not in fact lock and then when I was inside Steers they opened the car and stole my lap top and 20 D Canon camera from the car.
Thus if this could happen to me it could happen to you as well, so be warned.
Basically I am not too worried about the lap top because it is already 12 years old and the camera was already worn out and the lens was already cracked and in a poor state, what worries me is the fact that these @#%$^&**^&*()()&%^( people had entered my car and taken my things. And they were not insured because it is not worth the while claiming for such items from the insurance anyway.
The info on the lap top, well they will enjoy all the 4x4 photo's and various other photo's as well. I already had a sim swap done on my 3G.
We have given this problem some thought, theory is one thing, practice is something different, one is not always prepared when it actually happens, if you find that you are unable to unlock your car electronically, you might be able to do so mechanically with your key, however if you find that you are unable to unlock your car, you must either stay with your car or drive off with it, or if you want to take a chance, walk away and turn around and see what is going on, but you are then in danger of confronting your aggressor, it is your choice, however what is more dangerous if you are trying to to unlock your car electonically and it will not unlock you could get mugged or high jacked at that moment, because the same system works when you want to unlock your car electronically preventing you from unlocking it

I read on another web site that they call this Jamming, maybe the only way to catch these guys is to lay a trap?

BIL know the owner of Pitstop Ultra City well, I will relay the message and believe they will pay attention to this.

This is a common trick the thieves (aka #$@^%@ @$@ @#$@#42 @#$@%^#%#) use. I always make sure that I see my vehicles indicators flash and I hear the doors lock.

I went through Bloem on Monday morning and stopped at that Shell.
I only saw the thread now. Luckily I'm using the Colt that locks with the key.
I'm on vacation going through Knysna, so it will be horrible if they open my pick up and help themselves.

The only way around this is to try open the door after you press the remote......
I wish someone would lay a trap and beat them senseless.....

Re: Shell Ultra City on left Before Bloemfontein from JHB Th
They did exactly the same thing a year ago when I parked the car on our driveway. Someone was jamming our central locking system. I phoned the police and toyota, but that was a waste of time. I then got some advice from a 'oom' in SA. I parked the 107 infront of the hilux, and at 22:00 I was able to lock it as usual. Later on I read that it's a syndicate who operated in different areas across London.
