Centre bearing on it's way out?
What are the symptoms of a weakening centre bearing?
With pullaway the body starts vibrating but the other gears seems fine. If you take it really casual in first then it's fine.

klink meer soos pressure plate.
Omtrent die center bearing, as jy onder die bakkie le en jy vat die propshaft en probeer hom heen en weer beweeg moet die hy nie meer as so 5mm beweeg by die center bearing nie

Just a hunch; but have you recently lifted your bakkie at the back?

Sounds like a clutch shudder ....... Clutch plate / pressure plate problem but not excluding the flywheel surface either.
When your road comes to an end ...... you need a HILUX!.

@Gernot - no changes were made.

The clutch and centre bearing is still fine.

Re: Centre bearing on it's way out?
Hi Richard
Lets take the centre bearing for instance - it's design to handle the enginepower, so the propshaft will move around but within limits. If you have a stronger engine and a heavy load as in my instance the prop will move more than normal which will cause a vibration. It's only for a very short time and then dissappear.
Did you have a lift recently or otherwise check the universals aswell?

What you describe is almost certainly a clutch shudder. You will need to replace the clutch plate and pressure plate. Sometimes it's just the clutch plate that is a t fault but it's not worth pulling the box and replacing that alone .... replacements usually come as a kit that includes clutch, pressure plates and release bearing.Tsa wrote:Thanks, Bulletjie-3.

accelerate a bit faster at pull off and you won't notice itMud Dog wrote:What you describe is almost certainly a clutch shudder. You will need to replace the clutch plate and pressure plate. it probably not worth doing it at all, i'd live with that shudder, put a new clutch kit and skim the flywheel when the clutch is worn.

Re: Centre bearing on it's way out?
Thanks guys. For now I will let Toyota check and let me know, going for 80k service tommorrow. I dont have the knowledge to be able to do it myself. So if it does become a problem I will take it to Hoppy.
