2.4 (22R) Carburetor running dry on inclines

Post by leonbrink »

I used my bakkie in 4x4 the first time this weekend. I challenged a steep sharp inclines. I was a bit disappointed with the fact that the 2.4 (22R) does not want to idle against inclines. Is there something that I can do to fix this? It is rather irritating with the thing dying on me all the time.
Otherwise I must say I am happy with the performance of the motor (and the consumption of fuel, it’s a killer!). :?

Leon... there must be something amiss with your carb. Mine also runs dry but I really have to go up a serious incline and keep it that way for a while.

Simon as I said i will share the info on the forum no problem , the only problem is that it is a fairly tecknical mod and fotos would be needed to explain so if someone send me a carb I will do it no peroblem (a few beers will just make the job easier)

You can have mine when you've fitted a Lexus V8 to my Lux (BUT it has to sound and run like yours! ) So guys, any donations towards a Lexus conversion would be greatly appreciated and you get to learn Blom's secret. You can thank me later...

Leon

My bakkie doen presies dieselfde, defenitief fludding.

Hi Tristan. I'm about to embark on the EFI conversion for the 22R Just short one or two small little things and then when Bennie and I can match up our schedule, we'll do the conversion on mine. I will then be able to give you an accurate figure. At this stage I get between 6.5 - 7 km/l with 31" tyres. Will keep you posted
