Re: Some of my pictures
Hey Johan I am by no means an authority on photography, and there are quite a few members that are great photographers that can also give you some feedback. I enjoy photography and that includes appreciating others photographs. That said, I think you have a really great eye for a photograph. Your shots have some really good lines that leads one through the photograph and pick up all the details in them. Digital sensors don't manage extremes of light in the same way as film does. Film tended to be kinder to extremes of light but digital photographers have used this to great effect like you have done with the beach scenes where the sunlight reflects off the water and wet beach and causes a halo effect, and the light reflections from the water. I really think they're great. Thanks for sharing them.

Ooops Johan, shows you that I'm far from being an authority, I see that you said you used film, does that include those beach shots as well that I thought was with a digital camera?

Re: Some of my pictures
Hey Pora, I agree a watermark does protect the photo, and many photographers use it, but I think it can be obtrusive and detracts from the photo, particularly as this is not a professional photographic website, and just forum members sharing their photographs. Obviously, that is up to the individual... Anyway, that is why I put a smaller copyright label on my shots... oh, I know the little label can be erased in photoshop without much damage to the photo, but I leave that to whomever's conscience to live with it... Also the resolution and size is not that great that a decent print copy can be made. Maybe Cassie can confirm that with his brilliant knowledge of computers and image resolution.Pora wrote:Nice pics johan

Re: Some of my pictures
That's exactly right. Even though one could enhance it a little, you cannot replace the missing pixels that have been discarded in the resizing and compression process. You would need the original for a useable print, unless you're doing postcard sizes or smaller.GI Jane wrote:Hey Pora, I agree a watermark does protect the photo, and many photographers use it, but I think it can be obtrusive and detracts from the photo, particularly as this is not a professional photographic website, and just forum members sharing their photographs. When your road comes to an end ...... you need a HILUX!.
Life is like a jar of Jalapeño peppers ... what you do today, might burn your ass tomorrow.
Don't take life too seriously ..... no-one gets out alive.
It's not about waiting for storms to pass. It's about learning to dance in the rain.
And be yourself ..... everyone else is taken!
