Bush beer cooler
OK, so you are in the workshop or in the bush, and the beer is not cold. How do you cool down the beer? It does not need to be instant, it can take a while, but, how would you make a bush fridge or cooling unit?
Re: Bush beer cooler
Put it in the fridge....Maplotter wrote:OK, so you are in the workshop or in the bush, and the beer is not cold. How do you cool down the beer?
You get the fire extinguisher

Bury it and wet the ground around it. Otherwise one can make use of canvas bags / sleeves that hold the beers .... hang them out in the shade and keep them wet / damp. A 2lit plastic soda bottle filled with water and a pin-hole to allow a slow drip hanging above the canvas holder should keep the canvas wet. The only downfall at times could be the scarcity of water.

Re: Bush beer cooler
You can also use a bucket of water and then through in some fertilizer.I am not sure exactly what type.it takes apparently 20 minutes to cool the beers.

Re: Bush beer cooler
The fertilizer is Urea. A bag of Urea will cool down a bath full of beer cans/bottles in minutes.
However with the current price of such fertilizer cheaper to drink a case red wine at room temperature and still have enough cash for a tank of fuel.

We use to employ a similar method during competition camps; basically a cube made from 12 sticks, some string & a few choice knots. Some more string to thread zig-zag across the sides of the cube except one which will be the door. Fold sheets of newspaper panckake style, wet them in water & weave between strings threaded across thesides of cube to cover the cube. Now cover with hesian (or 'streepsak') and employ the water bottle drip in the shade as above.Mud Dog wrote:Bury it and wet the ground around it. Of course one could also build a tripod stand with shelves & cover the same.
We used to make instant pudding & jelly in those

Re: Bush beer cooler
Ok I have heard this and never actually tried it. "Burry" the 6 pack so its 10 mm under the ground .Throw petrol over it and ignite. The rapid evaporation of the moisture in the ground apparently cools the beer down to a drinkable temperature. I still have to try it myself.
Everything keeps going right Toyota

Re: Bush beer cooler
Mythbusters actually did a whole program on cooling beer in unusual ways. If I remeber correctly the CO2 fire extinguisher did it best... ??
