From Giriyondo to Tofo is about 620 km and travel time is about 8-9 hours.

The section of road between the Masigir dam and Masia is not very good. Once you reach the EN1 the roads are fine. Also take into account the travel time in the Moz side of the park is a dirt road and takes some time to travel on.

We are planning to use that border post on our route, although we are stopping over at Massingir and then going from there through to Vilankulo in a day. We heard recently that you will not be allowed to use Giriyondo unless you have overnight accommodation booked in the park. The idea is to force the overnight stay to stop people speeding in the game park. So we rang the Palaborwa gate and asked them and apparently as long as you are in the park by 13h30 they will let you in and use Giriyondo. Either the information has not filtered through to the gate as yet or they are only stopping you using it if you get to the park too late in the day. Our plan is to get to Kruger for 9am and then go through to Massingir before it gets dark. Going to be a very long day!!
